Peonies for Paris
Peonies for Paris is my own artistic reaction to the bombings that happened recently in Paris, as well as the similar violence in other countries. The peonie flower is a symbol of peace, healing, and compassion. I was inspired by this flower that perfectly depicts the hope that I, and many others, have for these communities, as well as the beauty of the Eiffel Tower and Paris in general. My draped pattern pieces were digitized through Optitex and placed into Adobe Illustrator, filled with my designs, and printed on satin by Spoonflower. I then constructed the gown. Peonies for Paris also includes a full collection of gowns. To view the other pieces, select the Apparel Design section on the Home page.
Katie Lee Bridal Beaded Gown
I had the amazing opportunity to be the very first intern for Kate Nickols, of Katie Lee Bridal & Eveningwear in Lenexa, KS. Throughout my internship, I got to help with all steps of the production process, as well as with alterations, social media, and client interactions. One of my favorite projects, and one that I spent the most time on, was this beaded gown that was shown in Kate's Kansas City Fashion Week, Fall 2015 lineup. I designed the motifs and placed them into the gown, as well as helped construct the garment. The design was printed on silk crepe de chine via Spoonflower.
